Discover Indonesia School Tours

Purposes

  • To provide an opportunity to collaborate with teachers and integrate new perspectives with informal environments to enhance learning initiatives.
  • To be immersed in the cultures, lifestyles and the language of Indonesia.
  • To discover landscapes different to Australia, and their geological formations through the exploration of volcanoes and volcanic lakes, looking at chemical compositions and behaviours.
  • To observe natural selection and evolutionary divergence through exploring islands such as Komodo and observing different wildlife on the different islands of Indonesia, as Wallace did to develop his theories.
  • To understand how climate change is affecting the landscape of Indonesia ,as well as the conservation of animals and land by visiting and engaging with local conservation programs (i.e. Sea Turtle Society and Green School). 

We will travel from Melbourne to Denpasar Bali and stay in Kuta for 4 days, and travel to Labuan Bajo in Flores Island, East Nusa Tenggara Province for Day 5. On Day 6, we will travel to Komodo Islands visiting 6 destinations: Padar Island, Pink Beach, Komodo Island, Taka Makassar Island, Manta Point and Kanawa Island. Following this we will travel back to Labuan Bajo in Flores Island. On Day 7-9 we will travel in the mainland area of Flores island, to see the traditional house of Wae Rebo, the 3 colour craters Kelimutu. On Day 10 we will be travelling back to Denpasar Bali before heading back to Melbourne on Day 11.
